Privacy Policy for Conform
Last Updated: 20 April 2026
Conform is a Christian spiritual habits app that helps you pray, read the Bible, memorize Scripture, journal, track reading, and build habits that draw you closer to Jesus. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the app, why we collect it, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices and rights you have over your data.
If anything here is unclear, email us at contact@conformtojesus.org.
1. Who We Are
Conform is operated by the Conform team (conformtojesus.org). We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
a. Account and identity information When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a unique user identifier. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the name and email address those providers share with us.
b. Your spiritual habit content To provide the core features of the app, we store the content you create and the progress you make, including: - Journal entries (text, optional location, optional attached images) - Prayer items and prayer lists, including prayers you mark as shared with specific friends or groups - Bible reading progress, reading plans you follow, and verses you mark or highlight - Scripture memorization progress - Book reading tracker entries and reading goals - Habit completions, streaks, and reminder preferences - Mission statements, responsibilities, and daily reflections - Daily verse and daily vocabulary interactions
c. Social and community data If you use the community features, we store and share with other participants: - Your display name, avatar, and email address with members of prayer groups and memorization groups you join - Friend requests you send or receive and the resulting connections - Prayer items you explicitly share with named friends or groups - Group membership and role (member, admin)
d. Device permissions you grant The app only accesses the following when you enable the relevant feature: - Screen Time / Family Controls / Device Activity. If you enable app blocking, the app uses Apple's FamilyControls and DeviceActivity frameworks to let you select apps, categories, and websites to shield. The list of selected apps and your shield configuration is handled on your device by Apple's system frameworks; Conform does not receive the underlying usage data, nor do we transmit your app-selection tokens off your device. - Location. When you tag a journal entry with a place, we use your device location at that moment. Location is attached only to entries you choose to tag. - Calendar. If you choose to add a Conform reminder to your calendar, the app writes that event using Apple's EventKit. We do not read your other calendar events. - Notifications. If you enable notifications, we send a device push token to OneSignal so we can deliver reminders and prayer notifications. - Photos. If you attach or upload an avatar or journal image, only the specific images you pick are uploaded.
e. AI-assisted features Some features (for example, the Spurgeon AI commentary and AI-assisted reflections) send the relevant verse text and any prompt you provide to OpenAI through our backend so a response can be generated. Your account identifier is not shared with OpenAI in the prompt body, but the request itself is processed by OpenAI under their API data policy. Do not paste information into these prompts that you would not want processed by a third-party model.
f. Purchases and subscriptions In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through StoreKit. Apple shares a receipt and subscription status with us so we can unlock your entitlements; Apple does not share your payment card or Apple ID credentials with us.
g. Technical and diagnostic data We receive standard technical information needed to operate the app, including a device identifier for push notifications, app version, and basic request logs from our backend. We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the data above to: - Authenticate you and keep your account secure - Sync your journal, prayers, reading progress, and other habit data across your devices - Deliver reminders and notifications you have enabled - Enable the social features you opt into (friends, groups, shared prayers, memorization plans) - Generate AI responses for features that clearly indicate they use AI - Debug problems, prevent abuse, and improve the app
We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not train AI models on your journal, prayers, or other personal content.
4. Who Processes Your Data
We rely on a small number of trusted service providers: - Supabase — authentication and database hosting for your account and habit data - Apple — Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases, push notification delivery, Screen Time frameworks - Google — Sign in with Google (only if you choose that sign-in method) - OneSignal — push notification delivery - OpenAI — generating responses for AI-assisted features when you use them
Each provider acts on our behalf and is bound by its own terms and privacy obligations.
5. Social Visibility
Anything you explicitly share — prayers shared with a friend, joining a prayer or memorization group, accepting a friend request — is visible to the people you share it with. Your display name, avatar, and the email tied to your account are visible to other members of groups you join and to friends you connect with. Your journal entries, private prayers, and habit history are never shared unless you choose to share them.
6. Children
Conform is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please email contact@conformtojesus.org and we will remove the account. Parents and guardians are encouraged to supervise children's use of connected apps.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and the data associated with it at any time from within the app (Settings). When you delete your account, we remove your content from our primary systems; residual copies in encrypted backups are purged on our standard rotation. We may retain a minimal record where required by law (for example, purchase records).
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (for example, in the EEA, UK, or California), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. You can exercise access, correction, export, and deletion directly in the app, or by emailing contact@conformtojesus.org.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest on our backend provider. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and sign out of shared devices.
10. International Transfers
Our backend providers may store and process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (for example, standard contractual clauses) for international transfers.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Conform after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
